United India Insurance Company Limited (UIIC) has released the official notification for the recruitment of Administrative Officers (Scale I) – Generalists & Hindi Officers. The recruitment notification is dated September 7, 2026, and applications are invited from eligible candidates through online mode.

A total of 225 Administrative Officer vacancies have been announced, including 200 vacancies for Administrative Officer – Generalists and 25 vacancies for Administrative Officer – Hindi Officers.

The online application process will commence on September 8, 2026, and the last date to apply is September 28, 2026.

The notification also provides horizontal reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). For Generalists, the indicated PwBD vacancies are VI – 2, HI – 2, OC – 4 and MD/ID – 3. For Hindi Officers, VI – 1, while HI, OC and MD/ID are indicated as 0.

The vacancies are provisional/indicative and may be varied or interchanged by the Company during the recruitment process.

Important: Candidates can apply for either Generalists or Hindi Officers, but not both. Multiple registrations/appearances will result in cancellation of candidature.

UIIC AO Eligibility Criteria 2026

The eligibility conditions are to be considered as on June 30, 2026.

Nationality

Candidates must satisfy the nationality/citizenship conditions specified in the notification. Eligible categories include Indian citizens, subjects of Nepal or Bhutan, specified Tibetan refugees and certain Persons of Indian Origin who have migrated from the countries listed in the notification, subject to the prescribed Government of India eligibility certificate wherever applicable.

Educational Qualification

For Administrative Officer – Generalists

Candidates must possess a Graduate Degree/Post Graduate qualification in any discipline from a recognised university.

The notification specifically states that disciplines may include Engineering, Arts, Science, Commerce, Agriculture, Data Science and other disciplines.

Minimum marks required:

  • 60% marks for general candidates
  • 55% marks for SC/ST/PwBD candidates

The qualifying examination must have been completed on or before June 30, 2026. Working knowledge of computers is also mandatory.

For Administrative Officer – Hindi Officers

Candidates must have a Master’s Degree meeting any one of the educational qualification combinations prescribed by UIIC involving Hindi and English.

The notification permits, among others:

  1. Master’s Degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory/elective subject or medium at degree level.
  2. Master’s Degree in English with Hindi as a compulsory/elective subject or medium at degree level.
  3. Master’s Degree in another subject with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory/elective subject or medium.
  4. Master’s Degree in another subject with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory/elective subject or medium.
  5. Master’s Degree in another subject with Hindi and English as compulsory/elective subjects or one as medium and the other as a compulsory/elective subject.

The required marks are 60%, with 55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.

The qualification must be from a recognised university/institute and obtained through the prescribed 10+2+3 or equivalent educational pattern. Candidates whose final examination results were declared after June 30, 2026 are not eligible under the notification.

UIIC AO Age Limit 2026

The age limit is:

Where a candidate is eligible for relaxation under more than one category, cumulative relaxation may be available subject to the maximum age not exceeding 45 years.

UIIC AO Application Fee 2026

The application fee/service charges are as follows:

UIIC AO Selection Process 2026

The UIIC AO selection process consists of:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Tier I)
  2. Main Examination (Tier II)
  3. Descriptive Test
  4. Interview

Candidates qualifying in the required stages will be shortlisted for the subsequent stage and final selection.

UIIC AO Exam Pattern 2026

Tier I – Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination is applicable to both Generalists and Hindi Officers.

It will carry 100 marks and have a total duration of 60 minutes. Each section is separately timed.

Candidates have to qualify in each section as well as obtain the prescribed overall qualifying score.

Tier II – Main Examination for Generalists

For Generalists, the Main Examination consists of an Objective Test of 250 marks followed by a Descriptive Test of 30 marks.

Descriptive Test – Generalists

The Descriptive Test carries 30 marks and has a duration of 30 minutes.

  • Letter Writing – 10 marks
  • Essay – 20 marks

The test is conducted online in English.

Tier II – Main Examination for Hindi Officers

For Hindi Officers, the Main Examination consists of an Objective Test for 200 marks and a Descriptive Test for 50 marks.

The Professional Knowledge section covers Hindi and English grammar/vocabulary, knowledge of Acts/Rules relating to Official Language implementation and translation from English to Hindi and Hindi to English.

Descriptive Test – Hindi Officers

The Descriptive Test carries 50 marks and has a duration of 60 minutes.

It includes:

  • English Essay – 10 marks
  • Hindi Essay – 10 marks
  • Hindi Letter Writing – 10 marks
  • English to Hindi Translation – 10 marks
  • Hindi to English Translation – 10 marks

The test is conducted online in English and/or Hindi, as applicable to the particular question.

Negative Marking

There is a penalty for wrong answers in both the Preliminary and Main examinations.

For every wrong answer, one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.

There is no penalty for unanswered questions.

UIIC AO Final Merit

For Generalists, the marks obtained in the Tier-II Objective Test and Interview will be considered for the final merit list in the ratio of:

Online Main Examination : Interview = 75 : 25

The Preliminary Examination and Descriptive Test marks will not be considered for the final merit list.

For Hindi Officers, the Tier-II Main Examination, comprising Objective and Descriptive Tests, and the Interview will be considered in the ratio of:

Tier-II Main Examination : Interview = 75 : 25

The Preliminary Examination marks will not be considered for the final merit list.

UIIC AO Salary 2026

The basic pay scale for Administrative Officer (Scale I) is:

₹82,485 – 4,050 (14) – ₹1,39,185 – 4,390 (4) – ₹1,56,745

Apart from the basic pay, officers will be eligible for admissible allowances and benefits according to Company rules.

The benefits mentioned in the notification include:

  • Gratuity
  • LTS
  • Medical Benefits
  • Group Personal Accident Insurance
  • National Pension System (NPS)
  • Leased accommodation

The approximate gross pay is ₹1,10,000 per month at Metropolitan Centres.

Probation Period

Selected candidates who are medically fit may be appointed as Administrative Officer (Scale I) on probation for one year.

The probation period may be extended at the discretion of the Company.

During probation, officers are required to pass the non-life Licentiate Examination conducted by the Insurance Institute of India for confirmation of their services.

Five-Year Service Bond

Selected candidates appointed on the regular payroll will be required to undertake to serve the Company for a minimum period of five years, including the probation period.

Resignation before completion of the bond period can attract liquidated damages as specified in the notification, along with ₹35,000 towards onboarding and integration cost.

Posting and Transfer

UIIC states that vacancies are substantially in the Western and Southern Zones, and selected candidates are likely to be posted mostly in offices in these zones.

The initial period of posting will be for a minimum of five years, during which requests for transfer to a place of choice will not be entertained.

Candidates may also be posted or transferred to any location in India according to the Company’s requirements.
