Indian Railways has released the notification for Junior Engineer (JE) and Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) posts, with a total of 3,993 vacancies under Pay Level 6 of the 7th CPC. Junior Engineers and Depot Material Superintendents are recruited across multiple Railway departments and disciplines, including Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, and Signal & Telecommunication (S&T). Selected candidates will be posted across various Railway Zones/Production Units as per merit, options exercised, and vacancy position and will be required to undergo training with stipend wherever prescribed.

Indian Railways has announced 3,993 vacancies for Junior Engineer and Depot Material Superintendent posts under CEN No. 04/2026. The vacancies are distributed across different reservation categories and 21 RRBs.

RRB JE 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Three year Diploma in Engineering (or equivalent B.E./B.Tech) in the relevant discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Electronics & Allied Engineering groups) as specified for each post; DMS post accepts diploma in any engineering discipline.

Age Limit

Candidates should be 18–33 years as on 01.01.2027, with relaxation for SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD, Ex-servicemen, and other specified categories.

Nationality

Citizen of India, Nepal, Bhutan, or person of Indian origin migrated from specified countries (with eligibility certificate where applicable).

Medical Standard

Candidates must meet the medical fitness standard (A-3/B-1/C-1/B-2, as specified per post) prescribed under the Indian Railway Medical Manual.

RRB JE 2026 Selection Process

Candidates are selected through a multi-stage process:

1. 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-I) – screening test
2. 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT-II) – includes technical ability questions
3. Document Verification (DV)
4. Medical Examination (ME)

Final empanelment is based on merit in CBT-II, subject to successful document verification and medical fitness.

• Scribe candidates: 160 minutes

RRB JE 2026 Application Fee

• ₹500/- for general candidates (₹400/- refundable on appearing in CBT-I)
• ₹250/- for SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/PwBD/Female/Transgender/Minorities/EBC candidates (refundable on appearing in CBT-I)
