Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), a leading Public Sector Bank headquartered in Chennai, has released a notification inviting online applications for the recruitment of Local Bank Officers (LBO) in SCALE 1 against 250 vacancies across four states. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online from 08.08.2026 to 24.08.2026. Selected candidates will be posted within the state they apply for, for the first 12 years of service or until promotion to SMGS-IV, whichever is earlier. Note: Some states include Backlog vacancies. Candidates can apply for only ONE state, and no change of state/category will be permitted after registration. Merit lists are drawn state-wise and category-wise.
The cut-off date for eligibility in age and educational qualification is 01.08.2026. Candidates must have been born not earlier than 02.08.1996 and not later than 01.08.2006 (both dates inclusive).

Candidates must also be proficient in reading, writing and speaking the local language of the state applied for. Those who have not studied the local language in 10th or 12th standard must clear a Language Proficiency Test before the Personal Interview.

Cumulative age relaxation is available to SC/ST/OBC candidates (subject to a maximum upper age limit of 50 years) when eligible under more than one category.

Fee/intimation charges can be paid online via Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking, BHIM/UPI, etc. Fee once paid is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against any other recruitment process.
Selection will be made through an Online Examination, followed by a Language Proficiency Test (LPT) (wherever applicable) and a Personal Interview.

There is a penalty of 1/4th (0.25) marks for each wrong answer; unattended questions carry no penalty. There is no sectional cut-off, but the minimum qualifying aggregate is 30% for reserved category candidates and 35% for unreserved candidates.
The Personal Interview carries 100 marks. Minimum qualifying marks in the interview are 45% for reserved category candidates and 50% for unreserved candidates. The final merit list will be prepared based on the combined weightage of Online Examination and Personal Interview in the ratio of 80:20. The minimum aggregate qualifying score is 30% for reserved categories and 35% for unreserved category candidates.

DA, HRA, CCA and other allowances will be paid as per Bank rules in force. Selected candidates will be on probation for 2 years and will need to execute a Financial Service Indemnity Bond of ₹2,00,000/- for a minimum service period of 3 years.
